Privacy Policy

Garland Inc. ("Company") hereby establishes this Privacy Policy regarding the handling of Users' personal information in connection with the Parallify service ("Service") provided on this website and in the iOS app.

Article 1 (Personal Information)

"Personal information" refers to "personal information" as defined in the Personal Information Protection Act, meaning information about a living individual that can identify a specific individual by name, date of birth, address, telephone number, contact information, or other descriptions contained in such information, as well as data relating to appearance, fingerprints, voiceprints, and information that can identify a specific individual from such information alone, such as insurer numbers on health insurance cards (personal identification information).

Article 2 (Methods of Collecting Personal Information)

The Company may request personal information such as name and email address when Users register for use (the information we receive from the external services used for sign-in is described in Article 12). The Company may also collect payment information from the payment providers we work with.

Article 3 (Purposes of Collecting and Using Personal Information)

The purposes for which the Company collects and uses personal information are as follows: to provide and operate our services; to respond to inquiries from Users; to send emails regarding new features, updates, campaigns, and other services provided by the Company; to contact Users as necessary for maintenance and important notices; to identify Users who violate the Terms of Service or attempt to use the services for fraudulent or improper purposes and to refuse their use; to allow Users to view, change, and delete their own registration information and view their usage status; to charge Users for paid services; and for purposes incidental to the above purposes.

Article 4 (Changes to Purposes of Use)

The Company shall change the purpose of use of personal information only when the purpose after the change is reasonably recognized as related to the purpose before the change. When the purpose of use is changed, the Company shall notify Users or publicize the changed purpose on this website by the method prescribed by the Company.

Article 5 (Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties)

The Company shall not provide personal information to third parties without obtaining prior consent from the User, except in the following cases: when permitted by the Personal Information Protection Act or other laws; when it is necessary to protect a person's life, body, or property and it is difficult to obtain the consent of the person; when it is particularly necessary to improve public health or promote the sound development of children and it is difficult to obtain the consent of the person; when it is necessary to cooperate with national or local government agencies or their entrusted parties in executing affairs prescribed by laws and obtaining the consent of the person may interfere with such execution.

Article 6 (Disclosure of Personal Information)

When requested by the individual to disclose personal information, the Company shall disclose it to the individual without delay. However, the Company may decide not to disclose all or part of the information if disclosure falls under any of the following cases, and shall promptly notify the individual of such decision.

Article 7 (Correction and Deletion of Personal Information)

If the User's personal information held by the Company is incorrect, the User may request the Company to correct, add, or delete ("Correction, etc.") the personal information in accordance with the procedures prescribed by the Company. If the Company receives a request from a User and determines that it is necessary to respond to the request, the Company shall make such Correction, etc. of the personal information without delay.

Article 8 (Suspension of Use of Personal Information)

If requested by the individual to suspend or erase the use of personal information on the grounds that the personal information is being handled beyond the scope of the purpose of use or was obtained by fraudulent means, the Company shall conduct the necessary investigation without delay.

Article 9 (Changes to Privacy Policy)

The contents of this Policy may be changed without notice to Users, except for matters otherwise provided by laws and regulations or in this Policy. Unless otherwise specified by the Company, the changed Privacy Policy shall become effective when posted on this website.

Article 10 (Use of Analytics)

The Company does not use Google Analytics or any other analytics tools on this website or in the iOS app.

Article 12 (External Services Used for Sign-in)

To sign in to the Service, you use a Google account (on this website) or Sign in with Apple (in the iOS app). When you sign in, the Company may receive your email address from these companies and, if you allow it, your name. If you choose "Hide My Email" when signing in with Apple, the Company receives a relay email address issued by Apple. The Company never receives your password for these services.

Article 13 (Data Storage and Servers)

The Company stores your account information and data such as your diary entries in Japan (Tokyo), using "Supabase," a database service provided by Supabase Pte. Ltd. (Singapore). The Company also uses Supabase for sign-in (accepting sign-ins and managing your signed-in session). The servers for the Service run in Japan (Tokyo) on "Google Cloud," provided by Google Cloud Japan GK, and data such as your diary entries is processed through these servers. These companies handle the data in accordance with their privacy policies and data processing agreements.

Article 14 (Processing of Diary Entries by AI)

The Company uses external AI services to write replies and letters to your diary entries, to organize summaries, emotional tendencies, people, and triggers in your entries, to provide search, and to analyze your year. - What we send: the information needed for the processing, out of the text of the diary entries you record, the words you enter in the search field, and summaries, replies, and other content created from them - What we do not send: the Company does not add account information such as your name, email address, or user ID to what is sent (anything you write in an entry or in the search field is sent as written) - Where we send it: Google LLC (Gemini API), OpenAI, L.L.C. (OpenAI API), and TypeSafe AI, Inc. (Jev: judging emotion scores and classifications). The Company chooses which of these companies to use for each process, within the purposes above - At these companies: each company has publicly stated that it does not use the content sent to it to train AI models (for Google, under its terms for paid services). The content may be retained by each company for a certain period as needed to detect and prevent misuse or to provide its services. Each company handles the content in accordance with its privacy policy (based on what each company has published as of October 2026).

Article 15 (Entrustment to Companies in Foreign Countries)

Of the companies entrusted under Articles 13 and 14, Supabase Pte. Ltd. is located in Singapore, and Google LLC, OpenAI, L.L.C., and TypeSafe AI, Inc. are located in the United States. The Company entrusts the processing to them after confirming, based on each company's terms of service and data processing agreements, that the information will be handled in line with the purpose of Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information. If we add or change these companies, we will revise this Policy and post it on this website.
